Overview

FIL Paris was Filecoin Foundation’s community conference during EthCC week 2023 — the largest annual gathering of Ethereum developers and researchers in Europe. The event needed an identity that could command attention in a city hosting dozens of competing side events, while feeling authentic to the Filecoin ecosystem rather than generic web3 conference fare.

Approach

Creative direction covered the full event environment: spatial branding, stage design, signage, and all print and digital collateral. The approach evolved from FIL Lisbon the year prior — tighter visual language, more considered use of space, and a stronger alignment between the event identity and Filecoin’s broader brand direction. Motion direction for the recap video involved defining the narrative brief, directing the motion team on pacing and visual tone, and shaping the final cut to function as both event documentation and community content.

Outcomes

FIL Paris reinforced the event series as a consistent fixture in the Ethereum ecosystem calendar — recognisable in look and feel, distinct from competitor activations. The recap video extended the event’s presence on Filecoin’s social and community channels, demonstrating the value of investing in motion direction as part of the standard event production brief.
